Sygate Personal Firewall Settings

I recently installed Sygate Personal Firewall onto my laptop running windows xp pro SP2. I cannot connect to the internet unless I use the "Allow all traffic" option, which obviously defeats the purpose of a firewall. I searched around on the internet but I couldn't find anything that fixed my problem. I have my browser (firefox) set to the access setting "allow," but that still doesn't fix it. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Make sure the XP firewall is turned off.

I encountered the same problem on a Windows 2000 laptop and I vaguely recall I uninstalled and reinstalled Sygate and things started working.
