Converting video

I have been recording tv shows on my computer with Media Center. My final goal is to edit and burn these shows to a DVD through Pinnacle Studio Version 9. To import video files to Pinnacle the files have to be in mpeg or avi formats. I need help converting these tv shows to mpeg or avi.

Thank you in advance.

With Media Center I don't think you can change the way you can record. I don't even know what format it records in. Does anyone know what format Media Center records in? Also, what is the program that you took that screenshot from oldtimer?

I do have my tv cable attached to my computer. Media center is a microsoft program that came with Windows XP media edition. It allows you to listen to music, record/watch tv, watch DVDs, etc... I started this forum to find out how to convert tv shows that i have recorded with media center into avi or mpeg formats. Now Winfast PVR is a tv recorder, right? And is it free?

That link does not work.
A Media Center pc allows a tv cable to be plugged in.

Ok, I found out from microsoft that media center records in dvr-ms format. Does anyone know of a video converter that could convert these into mpeg or avi formats?
