Software to convert Cassettes to CD's

I want to get a good program for transferring music cassettes to my computer and to burn them on to CD's and MP3's. My present audio card is a Sound Blaster Live 24 bit advanced with Dolby Digital 5.1 It came in my Dell system. My present system came on the computer called Record Now for burning Cd's and DVD's
Do I need to upgrade this card to something with stereo inputs?

All you need is the line in port (or mic port) on the sound card, (you should have at least a place to plug in a mic but line in is better for this.) and a 3/8" to 3/8" cable (usually connects the sound card to the speakers, it's like a headphone jack on both ends) connect the cassette player headphone out to the line in (or mic if you must) and then use a recording program to save the music.

I know that I can use my existing sound card, I was just wondering if there was one which allowed you to put in a stereo signal ie left and right separate inputs. I want to find something which will allow me to make good quality copies as some of my cassettes are not available as CD's.
The other thing I am looking for is a good program for burning the disks. I have heard that Nero is good, what about Roxio or the Record Now that comes with Dell computers?

Hi, Your sound card does make Stereo XXX.WAV files and no doubt has a line in jack. If you use a cassette player with Line Out you will only need cables from Radio Shack. RCA to 1/8" stereo plug. Once you get the wave there are several programs that you can download to help you with the CD burning. I have one, but can not find the name of it right now. If you want to burn the CD as one big bunch of music you don't really need an editor. If you want to burn individual songs you will need the Editor or record the .wav files individually. I'll post the name of the editor as soon as I locate it. Hope this helps, Jim
