Sygate personal firewall?

I have Sygate Personal Firewall, and I recently visited their site. I found this notice:

Does this mean that my firewall won't be adequate anymore? It sounds like they will no longer be updating it (or is this what "endpoint compliance" means?). Is it still O.K. to use if I want good security?

It will continue to work as it always has. "Updating" firewalls usually means they just add more stuff...like spam filters and popup blockers and anything else they can think to throw in.

I prefer a firewall, like Sygate and older versions of Zone Alarm, that just do the firewall stuff. I've burned the Sygate Personal Firewall installation file to CD since I'm sure it will be unavailable for download in the future...if it isn't already.

Apparently, Norton has bought out Sygate. Sad. I've used Sygate for years.
Outpost(free) was good at one time but they quit supporting it for a time.

I've installed SafetyNet and am giving it a try. It has a lot of options and does monitor outgoing as well as incoming. If anyone has used it for a while I would appreciate comments.

I would rather set my hair on fire than to install Norton or Zonealarm.

The last time I tried ZA, it blocked "allowed" processes on its own, and eventually blocked internet connection. When I uninstalled it, I had to rebuild my internet connection. The uninstall was messy too. Yuck.

O.K. thats good. What if a vulnerability is discovered? There won't be any fixes, right?

zone alarm offers a discount for current sygate pro users. you might want to check it out, i don't think it expires yet.

i use sygate pro too but eventually i'll switch since the current signature database will become outdated.
