need to stop installing hardware

my computer keeps trying to install a piece of hardware that i dont even have and wont stop. this is preventing me from adding other hardware which i NEED to do.
it keeps popping up in the taskbar trying to install mtb hardware and i have no idea how to cancel it as iv tried everything.
any ideas are welcome.

Does it say what piece of hardware it has found? Does it also occur in safe-mode? Is any device highlighted in device manager? Have you recently added a new piece of hardware or installed new software? Try reinstalling drivers for another piece of hardware such as a printer. Do you have a system restore point made before this issue you can revert to?
