Registry Problems

I recently uninstalled some programs. I went into msconfig and some programs were still there. I did regedit and could not find the files anywhere. I read most of the threads here. Does anyone have any other ideas on what to do or should i just dump my computer and start fresh??(Dont really want to)

have you tried one of freeware registry cleaners? They usually sort out any problems i get like this

Hi, Real often, after I have dumped a program using it's own uninstaller, I find all kinds of junk lying around my rig. Use FIND and search for the name of the program and/or the company name that made it. Careful, be sure what you are deleting. Registry is also part of my routine. I use a program called Registrar Lite. It brings up all occurences of the name searched for and lets you dump them all at once. Good Luck, Jim

Hi, i''d be careful about doing this manually as described by JimP as you could get in all sorts of problems if you delete the wrong thing. The app i mentioned above has got an uninstall utilty that will do that for you

I've also used ccleaner for ages and find it to be a very good program.

Hi Carl, Real good advice, but since Tiger has already deleted some registry items, it should be obvious that he knows what he is doing. Jim
