ok it sounds like you have an iso that you cant open. this icon looks like a dos window right. well any way i say you download this program called "iso buster". search kazaa, if you have it, for this iso buster. search the web for it too i think its free or has a free trial. this program extracts all the files from the iso and puts them in a folder of your choice.

an iso is basically a compressed file. if anyone knows a better way for doing this please post because i wanna know more on this subject too. lol.

actually the file is an executable .exe extension but the ISO buster u mention I do use to extract .iso files your right that program works well. But like I said the file I'm concerned about and can't open is a .exe extension file to be exact it's James_Bond_007_Night_Fire.exe if that helps?

well then you can check the compatability on it. im pretty sure it has to do with that. if not, try re-extracting the files or it might just be that the file is not correct. there plenty of possabilities if any of these dont work then let me know ill see what else i can do. lol

Hey guys,

I am recieving the same message when I try to open certain files. Their icons look like a dos window.

But the thing is that, just yesterday I opened one of these files and it was working perfectly. But then, an hour later or so, I tried to open the same file again, and I start getting this message X is not a valid win32 application.
I have re-downloaded the file, deleted the old one, tried almost everything, but still I keep on recieving this message.
I downloaded a few more .exe files, and I am getting the same message, when I try to open them.

Guys please help, I need to get this file working before 5pm Est. (thats 2hours away from now)

I suspect that this particular game is not compatible with your operating system or some of the parts of your operating system. Newer games require certain files to be added to your operating system, so I would recommend trying to update your windows (windows update).

Hope that helps.

Okay I think I have figured it out.

First of all, this download is corrupted. In other words, I would choose a more reliable site to download the exe file.

Secondly, the reason you cannot reinstall this perfectly on your computer is because even if it is an invalid application, it leaves entries in your registry. So, once the file is thought to be reinstalled, the corrupted registry entries from the last version still exist.

So, first you should unistall this application. Then, get a registry cleaner program (many freeware ones exist) to clean out the reg entries and then I would redownload the file and try installing it again.

This is just a suggestion. I hope this helps. Aside from this I can only say that your operating system is not perfectly compatible with the file. And even though your system is way over the requirements for the application, certain files maybe required that must be added to run some applications.

Well guys, this isn't a game that I am trying to open, nor have I installed it, nor can I install it. It is not meant to be installed. It is just 1 single .exe file (application I guess). I don't think compatibility is the issue here. I have used it many times before on this computer, and also refer to my last post to see when I last used it. 1 minute it was working, and the next minute it wasn't. I deleted the file & cleaned registry entries, & downloaded it again from various different websites, but still I am recieving the same error. I also downloaded a few other .exe files (not the same one)... they also display the dos icons & I am recieving the same error each time I try to run/open them.

Regarding u people who are recieving this error when trying to open a game. I have had this problem before. If u updated the game or if it was already updated when installed, u must download a newer crack for the new updated version. I think that is how I fixed my problem.

You may have installed a virus or other malware. The message you are seeing may be the result of a perfectly working program... with very bad intentions. Or it could be a symptom after the malware/virus was installed. I would seriously suggest using an up-to-date virus scanner and spyware remover and do a full system scan.

Possible solution

I had the a same problem downloading from the net and it turned out that my pop up stopper was cutting off the transfer. I use a firefox browser and because the dialog box that shows download progress is technically a pop up, it transfers only part of the download and aborts the rest. Disengage your pop up cop and check your download settings on your browser.

This should help for both browsers i would think. Worked for me, hope it does for you.

Hey guys, I been recently getting that stupid "...is not a valid win32 application" error, except I am getting it when I try to use a irc link on internet explorer. Instead of opening up mIRC, it gives that error with the url link as the subject of not being a valid win32 application. I doubt it is an operating system issue, nor a .exe issue either.

I think its some sort of damned spyware, or trojan maybe. I have been constantly trying to disinfect the computer from anything at all, but nothing seems to be working.

I am also getting a (0xc0000142) error when trying to startup 3d studio max 6 and 7, and am thinking it may be linked to the same thing, since these errors never came up before and are new to me.

The thing is, its going to be harder to fix than I had expected...
