The password is maintained in CMOS memory.
You clear CMOS by removing the main power cord from the PSU. Open up the case and move the CCMOS1 jumper (usually near the battery) from pins 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3. Wait a few minutes. Move CCMOS1 back to pins 1 and 2. Close up the case, restore power and turn on the system.
Once at the POST screen again, press DEL to get into the setup screens and reenter all your settings, starting with Load Optimized Defaults.
