I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section, as it was a game I was installing.
I was installing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on my laptop. 1/3 of the way through installation, my computer crashed. This was very odd, because I just got it repaired (for the third time...). I turned the system back on, went to the add/remove programs window, and tried to find the game to uninstall it, but it wasn't on the list. I removed the CD from the tray, then put it back in. The 'install game' button was replaced by the 'play game' button. I knew the computer crashed had messed it up. Next step: went to the game's folder, deleted it. You're probably thinking right now "Idiot!". I thought it would work. (Could somebody explain to me why I should/shouldn't have done that, in a general sense?)
I removed the CD/ stuck it back in, and the 'play game' button was still there. That's when I noticed an 'uninstall' button. Oops. Pressing 'play game' does nothing (but keeps the game running. I can tell, because it's in my ctrl+alt+del system tray). Closing that does nothing special. When I hit 'uninstall' I get a popup.
