monitor not displaying

i bought a refurbish computer and when i connect the monitor to it, the monitor does not display anything. the orange light comes on and if i unplug the connection it'll say "lost signal" or something like that. the computer turns on and everything. i can hear everything running. i put the monitor on another computer and it worked just find. so i know its not the monitor's fault. i was researching and read that it could be a "video card" problem. is this normal? what kind of video card should i go with brand wise? thanks. much appreciated.

Without more information on your pc it is impossible to recommend a video card.

Please provide system specs.

To obtain full system internals diagnosis please use Belarc Advisor (freeware) you can download it from this LINK
