Outlook-03: No Auto Send/Receive, Manual S/R Works Fine

Last week, I had to reformat the HD on my three month old Gateway MX6500 Notebook after developing a persistent "delayed write failed" issue.

I then spent the obligatory two days getting my software back close to the way I had it pre-format. Grrrrrr. . . My installation of Office 2003 Pro seemed to go fine with no glitches. All the apps seem to run as intended and desired, except Outlook (go figure...).

I prefer to set Outlook to perform a Send/Receive operation automatically every five minutes. As far as I can tell, I've checked all the proper boxes and have all settings correct, but it won't perform an AUTOMATIC Send & Receive. MANUAL S/R works just fine, no problems at all.

Anyone have any ideas? Might there be some obscure setting I'm missing?

Perhaps you missed it because it was so unobscure...

Tools > Options > General
-send and recieve messages at startup
-check for new messages every xx minute(s)

Thanks for the quick response. I should have been more precise in my initial post. Those are the first two things I checked that I had done. I've tried several different combinations of those and still get the same result -- nothing. I'm unaware of any other settings in Outlook that might impact the operation of auto send/receive.

OK, nevermind. Well, I've got yet another example of why I enjoy using MS products so much. The issue I described initially has simply vanished, with no apparent input or change, at least I didn't change anything. Outlook now works as I had configured it, and as I want. Strange. I guess in fairness to MS, it surely could have been gremlin from some other source. Regardless, it seems to be gone. Thanks to any of you who expended any brain processing cycles pondering this mystery. . .
