Smile unblocking processes from norton?

Hiya...

A process called cpdnbbcmgr.exe was trying to access the internet and norton flashed up asking if i wanted to block it. I chose stop it from accessing the internet via all ports or something, cos I didn't recognise the process. I've since realised it's part of global warming reporting project which uses many 1000's of people's home computers to run model predictions, instead of a central supercomputer. Now I've looked through norton's FAQ's and done a search to see if I can unblock it and can't find anything.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

Also... I've got loads of processes running in task manager, and I've got no idea what they are. Does it matter? Should I just leave them alone?

Any help appreciated... it's all dutch to me.

Cheers

Mark

Norton puts many processes in task manager, they usually start with cc, if you are suspicious of any of thoes you might want to google it and it will tell you more information. As for the unblocking, im assuming you have norton internet firewall, then go to options and then look around, you should be able to find something along the lines of "blocking rules" and then click on that and change cpdnbbcmsg.exe to allow instead of deny

Thanks a lot... found it eventually... it's personal firewall > configure > programs > then click on whatever program you want to change for the options.

Cheers
