New DVD Burner

Hi all. I just ordered my first DVD burner. Not really sure how to use it. Can anyone suggest some web sites that might provide info or tips on what software to use or what goes with a DVD burner or how to use one? One of my friends told me to stay away from -R disks but +R disks are good. Another one told me I'll need something called "Shrink" if I get Nero 7 Ultra. A web site I found said to set the region first before using a DVD burner or risk loosing disks. It doesn't appear that DVD's are as easy as CD's.

Burning data discs will be fine with Nero or most any other burning program. If you want to do backups of videos you need different procedures. Go to:

Read some of the newbie articles and tutorials, refer to the glossary also as necessary. All the software you'd need are on the left side of the home page under...wait for it..."Tools". Bring up a particular tool and on that page there are download links and a list of available guides. Good luck.

Look to the left under newbie guides. You'll want DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, probably ImgTools Classic. That's enough to get on with for awhile. Read the very clear and simple guides. Then return to videohelp once you've mastered those.
