sound legacy problem
I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NE mainboard, Athlon 64 3000+, Radeon 9700, WinXP SP2.
1)
I managed to install DOS (7.10) because I have quite a number of DOS games. The problem is, for pure Win games there is sound, but not for those that are DOS-only or "hybrid" (the ones that could be run both in DOS or Win95/Win98, like Quake 1, Duke3D, DOOM 2, MK1&2&3 etc.).
I downloaded the sound drivers from Gigabyte's site (my Device Manger says I have 1)RealTek AC'97 Audio and 2)Legacy audio Drivers among others). However my sound install program didn't let me choose DOS drivers.
Is there a way to fix this- some generic sound drivers for DOS (like there is a generic CD driver- OAKCDROM.SYS)?
2)
And I can't make a dualboot system, either WinXP-Win98 or WinXP-Win2K. When I run either Setup.exe (in DOS), after the first progress bar completes, everything freezes (or sooner if I move the mouse). Why?
