Acrobat hijack

(sorry I posted similar on the Win98SE thread)

- Have to repair my Acrobat reader (?v6.01)...after agreeing, etc...it attempted to load a new version(v7.01) which I didn't want - so I reverted to "uninstall reader" -
yet now my Internet Explorer has added a Adobe/Yahoo bar (wasting space) and particularly, I don't like having my PC hijacked...

So guys -
1) how do I remove this intrusion on IE5?
2) How do I install .pdf reader without this intrusion?

Can anyone suggest a simple "alternative pdf-reader" which doesn't attempt to hijack my pc.?

[[Since Adobe took over Macromedia I'm sure they will be foisting Flash on me soon, also - another thing I can do without, thankyou.]]

!!!_SELF_REPLY_!!!

This addresses part of the question - Go to View* / Toolbars.... click on yahoo (uncheck) - now removed...
(...although it's still taking up space in my drive. I want to remove the toolbar itself, never to reappear...)

...So this* is NOT the answer I seek, just thought I'd make that clear...thanks.

If you got to Add and Remove Programs and it is listed there you can uninstal it. I have it listed in my installed programs.
