Sure, you need a functional MPEG2 codec. Media Player Classic can play MPEGs because it has one "built-in", so to speak. Here's one:

I'm not up on WMP anymore, does version 10 not have an MPEG2 codec? Or maybe you do have one and it's corrupt? It might be wise to open an mpeg in GSpot to determine if you're simply missing the codec or if it's corrupt. Get the latest beta of GSpot here:

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Corrupt or "broken" codecs can be deleted using CodecSniper. Here:

Good luck.

True enough. However, it'll play AVIs if the proper codec is registered. Media Player Classic and Videolan are much better and free. They're not pretty, but they're functional. Here:

Open an MPEG in GSpot and see if it says you have a codec installed to play the file. If so, see if GSpot can "render" it. At bottom left, under VID, hit 1 to see the decoder chain, 2 to render it, and 3 to play it. Post back any error messages.

i pressed 1, it gave me for lines of info,
i pressed 2, i had a message under each line (in pink) that says:
Failed to create the source filter for the input file C.AddSourceFilter() failed: Error: 0x80004005: Unspecified error.

can u please help me.
i know i might be annoying you. but please i need ur help

Bleh, not another WMP 10 problem. So what's wrong with Media Player Classic? I use that most of the time, and Videolan as a streaming server.

What does CodecSniper say? Does it identify any codecs as "broken"? Specifically any MPEG2 codecs?

Okay, uninstall DScaler and try this one:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...EG_2_Codec.htm

Install, reboot, and see if it works. Another option is to install PowerDVD, which includes an excellent MPEG2 decoder.

Good luck.

[EDIT] The PowerDVD codec will also enable MPEG playback on other software players, just in case you're wondering. It's shareware, but the codec will remain functional after the trial period elapses. IIRC, you can even uninstall PowerDVD and the codec will remain.
