windows xp audio

hi there,

i have a problem with my audio, i am running windows xp home edition, now then after trying to install a (m audio fast track usb guitar and mic recording interface) i seem to have no audio at all this is day 3 of my waisted life, the problem is whenever i go to sounds and audio devices to choose my m audio fast track, the main the main sounds and audio device properties box, says no audio device (and no buttons are enabled for me to choose anything), if i go to the hardware tab to choose my m audio it says the device is working properly, if i right click on properties it says the diver is enabled but not been started.

the selection already in the sound playback etc is modem #0 line playback/record, ive tried my m audio on a friends pc and it works fine, ive tried uninstalling/re installing,system restore and the settings are still there, ive tried services.msc and looked for windows audio and all is well, ive even tried phoning the makers of of m audio to ask there opinion but were as helpful as a piece of used toilet paper, could some one please help me as i am loosing the will to live.
