Multimedia Audio Controller -HOW I FIXED MY PROBLEM
Hello all,

YOU WILL BE GLAD TO READ THIS AND SOLVE THAT MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER PROBLEMS WITHOUT ANY BULL!!!

I had this problem for a long time, months. What I did to solve it was go to the Dell website, clicked on products, clicked on the computer, clicked on service tag, clicked on what is this, got what they wanted to see, entered my service tag number, and it came up with my computer. I compared it to my system information to confirm. It was all correct. Then I clicked on drivers, clicked on audio and clicked on download and it come up with a exe file. I then saved the file, clicked on it in my documents and installed it. The computer has to restart which I said yes, and it did. Now as I type this, I am listening to music streamed from my local radio station 98.7 the peak in Phoenix. I looked for months on how to solve this audio problem like you are. MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER This was a pain to solve. But now that I solved it .... I just had to pass it on to the rest of you with the same problem I had. Let me know if this works for you. I would like to know, maybe I can assist if you are having problems in doing this. But do the manufacture web site, enter your service tag number to get to your actual computer, and download the audio driver , save it to my documents, click on it (it will be an exe file) and install it. This will solve your sound / audio problem. It did for me.

Will members please not 'hijack' a thread that's been started by someone else, even if it's same or similar problem. This causes confusion for both the OP and those trying to help. Please start your own thread!

get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the software license and win update section
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

check this out

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

also check Device Manager, anything yellow flagged
right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager
