Multimedia Audio controller peoblem

I have a HP media center pc 864n, I havr formatted the drive and gone to XP Pro OS, just never used any of the media center stuff.

Looking in My Devuices manger I have yellow ? marks with Multimedia Audio controller & PCI Input Device, both say do driver installed, I can not find drivers for these at HP.com

Top left Input Model to Search / type CUSL / CUSL2 / Audio there is no driver for XP try the one for Win2K

Can you search over your tower for a sticker that can help to find the make and model if this is not right,

I have tried this allready, at the end it says { set could not find any previous WDM drivers installed, setup will now exit. When I do to start/
accessories/entertainment/volum contrl, it tells me I have no mixer devices available

Take a look at this from HP, you may need to check whether sound is enabled in the BIOS, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...dlc=en&lang=en

if you do find it Disabled in the BIOS and change to Enable, make sure if the sound driver you downloaded was a Zip file that you have unzipped it. When you exit BIOS the found new hardware Wizard should launch, let it search but do not let it go online to search M$, it will find the driver on your comp.

Finaly got it working, thanks for the help in finding the driver, it will take a few days to grow my hair back LOL, been at this for 13 hours

I tried to download the drivers for the sound card from hp when near the end of installing the drivers it stopped, saying there are no previous wdm drivers. I also have discovered it is not finding my sound card at all. Thought maybe this might help you figure it out.

The motherboard has on-board sound and HP show the audio as a sound card, just to check

On-board - audio plugs at top of tower near keyboard, mouse sockets on the I/O plate

Sound card near bottom of tower in an exspansion slot.

So are there 2 sets of audio plugs at back of tower
