Screen Recording Software

I was wondering if someone could help me with the following?

I've been assigned the task of obtaining some software to create video presentations of some software that we have. I will need to create a video with voiceover capability and I need editing capability too. For example, let's say that I wanted to show someone how to use MS Excel. I could create a video that displayed a screen video of what I was seeing and saying. I would also like to insert a PowerPoint slide or show something else during the video so I need editing capability.
Has anyone done this before and know of a solution? Also, any idea of the cost for such software?

Best software in the market for your assignment would be Scala, where you could create your presentation in Flash .....which makes it look professional but the tricky part in learning how to manipulate macro media Flash...there lots of other software out there, the following like seem to an easier one with few samples:
