Overclocking CPU tool

I have an Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ processor.

I would like to overclock this and need an easy to use utility that will allow me to do this.

My BIOS doesn't let me do anything.

I am new to CPU overclocking so whatever extra info you need just ask and I will provide.

you guys dont overclock !! really! you cant ovclck more than 3.0 or 2.9 other than that youll be getting heating problems and you might torch or burn your cpu ,system instability and others ,the only good overclockable procs are the core 2 duo and extreme from intel.trust me guys i have overclocked a couple procs and i know what its like.

His 2.8 will overclock far higher than you suggest without issue. The biggest limiting factor here will be the motherboard. He enquired about software to allow him to do what he wants and I simply made a suggestion.
After that, it's up to him to do his homework and learn what the limitations are. I personally wouldn't attempt an overclock on a Dell if for no other reason than the final results may prove to be far less beneficial than when done on a good quality board, built specifically with overclocking in mind.

The second limiting factor will be the Ram. Depending on what the front bus speed is of the CPU vs. the Ram currently in use, there may be no room to increase the CPU host frequency as needed and keep within Ram spec.

The third limiting factor will be Heat but, only after you can surpass the first two factors and only after you effectively clock and run stable in excess of 600 - 800 Mhz over the rated speed of the CPU. This factor will also be affected by the CPU currently in us. That is to say whether or not it's a Prescott or if it's a Northwood as well what the actual front side bus speed of the CPU is at stock.

To suggest that only the new Core 2 Duo's are the only good overclockers as far as CPU's go is just not true. While it's true that some of the new duo cores can easily smash the records of heavily clocked P4's, that doesn't mean that there aren't alot of older CPU's out there that won't clock every bit as much (if not more) than the new Core 2 Duo's.

Having said all that, I will say again, being that we are talking about a Dell here, I would just leave well enough alone. However, should he decide to just "dabble" a little, an overclock of a few hundred will not affect anything PROVIDED, he doesn't OVERVOLT the CPU and only changes the CPU host frequency along with Ram timings.
