:( Help! Almost but so far, Anti Virus problems.

Ok, so heres the Dish:

Well, i had a massive battle with this Virus/Spyware. I am using the Panda antivirus + Firewall 2007. Well, The panda destroyed it, but i had to system restore to december to 1st, everything was lovely jubely. BUT, theres always that BUT aint there. Well, there is a process which comes with the specific Anti virus i announced, called AVENGINE.EXE. Now, i can say AVENGINE.EXE TILL MY NOSE GOES FUNNY. So, this little AVENGINE.EXE program takes 100% CPU USAGE! And now,i cnat get rid of it. Ive tried Add and remove Programs, You name it.ive done it. And i think its that system restore, which delivered the finishing blow,to my 100% CPU usage Hell . If tehre is anybody out there, who can help me. Please do.

The Things i have noticed are:

1. Code -5001 is Shown.
2. I am unable to uninstall it through install wizard.
3. Nutty MESSAGES are shown, like setup.dll.

If ANYBODY could help, gawrsh, ill be over the MOOOOOOOOON!

Hi Marshy666

I'm afraid to say that it is a valid part of the Panda protection programs you have running. You shouldn't stop it.

However, it shouldn't be using up so much of your CPU. I suggest you uninstall/reinstall the Panda program(s).

All that said, I find many people with this problem. That AVENGINE.EXE file is known to eat up CPU. Actually, there are two things you need to know about the Panda protection programs you have...

1. they are known to be resource hogs and
2. you may well have trouble removing them if you decide to change to other (more popular) programs.

All I can say is try out the reinstall thing then post back to let us know how you get on. I, for one, will be watching your work with interest.

Best of luck.

Um,ok.

Well, I gave the comp, to my Brother in Law and he said, it had Rebuild written all over it, so we installed Windows Xp again. Wiped my Hard Drive clean . This was mostely because, My Internet connection died out, because Panda must of merged with the NTL Connection files, needed to process the internet on a user term basis.

O yeh, Before i finish my thread, have you had your computer going down in a funny way, when your scrolling down a web page, in a autistic manner, like a stuttering. Well, Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the Knoledge you presented to me, i appreciate things like that.

Thanks.
Regards,
Charlie
