Eh?? Extra CD rom drive?

I was using the computer and I opened up "MY COMPUTER". And I didnt notice it at first but I kind of ignored it. But then I noticed after continuously going to My computer that an extra CD drive suddenly appeared magically. My computer has not been reset before this problem. It happened while the computer was on. I have DAEMON TOOLS installed but this problem should not have created a extra CDROM drive. It isnt a major problem but I am not sure why this occured. Can anyone tell me how to fix?

So it just appeared for no apparent reason? You can try re-setting the number of such virtual drives by right-clicking the Daemon icon -> Virtual CD/DVD-ROM -> Set number of devices. Then reboot, and check again.

Just a guess, but if you've mounted and unmounted a number of disc images, or perhaps deleted an image without unmounting it first, you might see some odd behavior from the program. You could check the manual, but I wouldn't worry about it.

You didn't say if you've verified the number of emulator devices. I'll spell it out more clearly: Reset to 0 (zero) devices, reboot, check it. If it's no longer there, good, now reset to 1 (one) device, reboot, check again. Does it now show a single device?

It wouldn't hurt to check also in Device Manager for SCSI and RAID Controllers. It should be something like: D347PRT SCSI Controller, depending on version number. Right-click Properties and see if Windows says it's working properly. If you see any duplicates, that's a bad sign, the driver may be corrupted, regardless of what Device Manager says.

This may sound odd, but DTools can be touchy. You need to do regular housekeeping on your comp, e.g. defrag, cleanup, malware scans, etc. If you still have any suspicions, really your best bet is to post a question in the Daemon Tools forum, here:

Good luck.
