Hi Spizz,

Does it do the same in MPC or VideoLan? (I wouldn't trust WMP from v 10 on).

hi fritzi i dnt have those media players but i do have nero showtime and it opens the right way up in that but in slightly poorer quality. Windows media player 11 opens it up, upside down in excellent quality whilst nero showtime does the oposite. Hope that helps and thanks for the time

thanks

If your intention is to use WMP, can't help you much. It's always been inferior to freeware alternatives. Even Nero Showtime (a not so good player) is better than WMP. Versions 10 and 11 incorporate DRM (digital rights management) features that are notoriously buggy.

The only advice I have is to use Media Player Classic and/or VideoLan. Free, here:

Maybe someone else can help you to make WMP behave properly, I dunno. Good luck.

Hi Spixx101

I had this same problem and came up with a fix that was fairly easy, I turned my monitor 180 degrees and hit play in my media player this worked great till I got a flat sreen nomatter what I did it wouldnt stay up so I reloaded windows at that point !!!!

( sorry couldnt resist )

if you go to your options menu I belive there is a setting for this it is mostly for tablet pcs but could be in the wroung mode for you

Hi again every1. Thanks for the time off all of you. I do not intend to keep this avi file on my computer and would really want to put it on a dvd but im just worried that if it opens upside down in some media player then maybe when uncompressing it through virtual dub and converting it to dvd files through divx to dvd and burning it to disc it might play upside down on my TV etc. Any ideas?

thanks

Sure, open it in VirtualDub. If it's right side up, the problem is most likely WMP. But I'm wondering why you ask a question, get a reply, then do NOT report whether the suggestion worked or even whether you tried it? Same idea with trying the AVI with MPC and VideoLan.

Load the AVI in VirtualDub, set mark in and mark out points for a clip of a minute or two duration, then save, making sure audio and video are set to Direct Stream Copy. (Hover the mouse over the buttons on the bottom if you don't know where mark in and mark out are). Load the short clip into Divx2DVD, encode it and see.
