Scanner problem

For a few years I have a HP scanjet 4750c/5500c.

I am having a problem with it.

This is the latest scan of a photo (the black rectangle is the photo, the stripes should be the white background).

Is this a hardware or software problem ?

Hello NYJIMN. Please uninstall then reinstall the scanner's driver software.
