RipIt4Me can deal with the latest protections, i.e. ARccOS, RipGuard.

RipIt4Me is no longer supported.
Try the combo of DVDFab Decrypter, for ARccOS, RipGuard, etc. And DVD Shrink to make the usually around 8gb fit onto a 4.7gb DVD+/-R. If you have Nero you're all set. If not, Imgburn is a free burning program that can help. Check out the forums at: <a href=http://forum.digital-digest.com/index.php> Digital Digest </a> for more info.

Neither is DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, SmartRipper, cladDVD.net, vStrip, and others. Doesn't mean they don't work. The problems come in a minority of releases, mostly Sony.
DVDDecrypter can still deal with ANY protection, if one is willing to manually create a protected sectors list (PSL). It is usually wise to remap the sectors afterwards using FixVTS, VobBlanker, or PgcEdit. All will do the job of correcting navigation. Older set-top players are more likely to be sensitive to uncorrected IFOs.
Look, the DVD spec is set, it cannot be altered without making discs unplayable on the millions of machines already in use. Therefore, the ways discs can be protected are limited. ARccOS and RipGuard exploit the difference in the ways set-top players and DVDRW drives work. Players ignore read errors and unreferenced titlesets, PC drives try to parse the deliberately introduced bogus information.
DVDFabDecrypter is dependent on frequent updates, i.e. updated PSLs. AnyDVD (payware) is also dependent on updates. RipIt4Me supposedly "creates" a PSL, but it obviously doesn't do a full analysis pass, it's too quick for that. I suspect it implements a strategy based on parsing the IFOs alone. RipIt4Me was, until forced to stop development, updated frequently. However, the final version is able to deal with "Casino Royale", by all accounts a disc which pushed the ARccOS protection scheme to extremes.
You want a "future Proof" ripper? Well, the closest you'll get is the PSL2 Plugin for PgcEdit. It does a full analysis pass, creates a PSL, imports that into DVDDecrypter and re-rips. Then it corrects sectors with FixVTS or VobBlanker (your choice), and opens in DVDShrink. Shrink is notoriously sensitive to incorrect nav structure. If Shrink opens a rip and doesn't complain, it's almost certainly "clean". This just automates the method outlined in paragraph two above.

Correction to above comments:
Out of curiosity, I got Casino Royale (Sony-Columbia release) to test the protection. The final version of RipIt4Me can rip it cleanly, as does DVDFabDecrypter. (With Fab, it's always a good idea to open the rip afterwards in DVDShrink to be sure there's no "junk" left behind. If it errors out due to bad navigation, run FixVTS and check again. DVDFabDecrypter is rather clumsy and not completely reliable.) Reportedly, AnyDVD (payware) can also deal with that disc.
However, this is the first time I've encountered a disc for which one CANNOT create a PSL with DVDDecrypter, nor does the PSL2 Plugin for PgcEdit work with Casino Royale. The structure is fiendishly complex, with 99 titlesets (maximum for the DVD spec).
Despite all the unreferenced junk, it turns out it's not so complicated as at first glance. Using DVD43, one can open the disc in PgcEdit to identify the main movie. Then start DVDShrink 2.3 (note this is an old version) and point to VTS_01_0.IFO (main movie ifo). Shrink will analyse and error out. Okay. Hit reauthor, drag Title 1 over, select Start/End frames. For start, go to chapter 2 and reverse to just before the opening credits. For end, back up one chapter, then advance to the end of the closing credits. Okay.
The above is to eliminate unreferenced sectors at the beginning and end of the main movie. Backup as usual, then open DVDFab 0.17.1 (old freeware version) and create video manager in the folder previously ripped to. Okay. This will produce a movie playable on set-tops without menu, although there are methods to add back menus as well.
There are almost certainly other workarounds. The point is, again, the DVD spec will only allow a finite amount of manipulation. Therefore, the latest protections are futile, although they may discourage novices.
I expect to see something soon to take the place of RipIt4Me. In the meantime, yes, DVDFabDecrypter will do the job so long as you keep it updated regularly. But it's hard to imagine an ARccOS protected disc with stronger protection than Casino Royale that would still be playable, so RipIt4Me is almost certainly good for a long while yet.

In case anyone's interested, it seems some recent Sony releases are unplayable on some set-top players, including high-end Sonys.
Sony Pictures DVD’s have a new a copy protection that makes the movies unplayable on some Sony (& other makes) DVD players!

YES ! It appears that Sony have done it again. In their zeal to make their DVD movies copyproof (yeah right) they have in fact made their latest releases unplayable on some DVD players, including my Sony DVP-CX995V DVD player. I recently rented “Stranger than Fiction” (2 copies) and “The Holiday” ( please no comments on my choice of movies) both by Sony Pictures. Both load up to the splash title screen and then load no further, then after about 60 secs the player turns itself off!
More here:

Customer impressions:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/discussionb...ion.html?ie=UT ... ISI233EAQZ
Sony risks losing DVD compliant certification for their movies and the right to use the logo. Ironic. This is starting to amount to an obsession of theirs; first rootkits and furious backtracking after vehement customer reaction. Now unplayable discs. They haven't learned a thing.
I'm like many folks out there. When I buy a movie, first thing is back it up (without the damned unskippable trailers, idiotic commentaries, etc.!) and put the original in a safe place. Why are they so bloody determined to stop me doing so?
Anyway, not to worry. No movie is uncopyable.
