i need help finding a wireless connection

I just rebooted my computer, Windows XP Professional, and I can't seem to be able to add a wireless network. My household has DSL and my sister and brother's computers seems to be able to detect and connect to it. The problem is that i can't add a network for some odd reason to my computer. All I have is the LAN and i have tried messing around with my computer seeing if i can find what the problem is but it just won't let me create a wireless network.

Is your wireless card switched on?
