Sending emails in Outlook 2003/Vista

I have a new Sony Vaio running Vista and I have installed Office 2003. Whenever I try to send an email from Outlook 2003, it stalls for about 2 minutes before placing the email in the Outbox and then everything seems normal. I use my hotmail account from Outlook.

This doesn't seem to happen when I first open Outlook and send the first email??

Can anyone help?

Microsoft Outlook no longer provides support for free Hotmail accounts (or vice versa), so unless your Hotmail account is paid for, you can no longer access it via Outlook.
