worm/malware problem

hey guyz....i need some help....i issued a topic over this forum statin that i had some stupid problem of my pc being restarted again and again. i had it checked by a pro....he told me my hard disk's dying...n that i am running an operating software (winxp) full of viruses. I couldn't believe his words. I know the processes running on my system and i had formatted the drives again n again....i kept a tight check on my registry and i am fully assurred there were no form of viruses running on my pc. Yet...i was convinced to upgrade a 40Gb to 80Gb. I purchased a new 80Gb SATA and installed in my system. everything wuz runnin smooth. i made that old 40 Gb a slave n had it scanned by an updated Panda Antivirus. a couple of suspicious progs were removed (a setup of actmon which i've kept for years intentionally) and one or two more files. nothin unusual. then i copied all the data and still no issues came up. i installed some basic softwares (office xp, live msngr, dap and winrar)...no probs yet. just as i signd in my live msngr for the first time...again that stupid restart. i browsed microsoft website n came to know that windows security upgrades are essential. i formatted c: again...installed windows, an antivirus (this time Kaspersky to see if Panda left something) and upgraded windows at first instant. I ran the symantec removal tools for w32blaster worm, w32welchia worm, beagle worm and backdoor.autoupder worm...then as i wuz shuttin down my computer, it prompted that some uprades are yet to be installed and that pc wud shut down automatically after installing upgrades. i proceeded and then slept. when i woke up at morn, pc was still on and had frozen. i restarted and just as i logged on to windows, that same stupid restart. however that problem didn't occurr in the safe mode. i checked registry and kaspersky scans...no hint of any virus. the basic softwares which i installed are all the same i've been using...though live msngr is the one i dloaded from live.msn website, dap is also a new beta available on its website, winrar and officexp are the same setups i've been using since years. I doubt its any prob related to these softwares. one more final hint...i copied my data back to 40Gb, disconnected that 40Gb and formatted the 80GB overall (not just the c. this time...windows is running smooth. even with a couple of viruses (ravmon stupidity). i desperately need that data back and i definitely need some help . thankx.
