usally not a valid win32 app means the programe file exe is corupt. why are you installing sp1 ,, if you get sp2 thats covers the sp1 fixes as well..if you have to have sp1 re-download from another site. and get sp1a... but you will find sp2 will make your system more stable.

Is there anyway to install Realtek High Definition Audio Driver without using SP1 or SP2? I'm using original version.

What O/S do you have at the moment? If you have XP SP1 you can't reinstall the Sevice Pack over the top?!?!

You need to go to the Realtek site and download the right drivers or you need to go to your motherboard's manufacturers website and download the right drivers from there!

i guess you have a pirate copy of xp if you cant get sp2 downloaded and installed..it will check your reg key,,your need at least sp1 to install realtek audio drivers..maybe sp2 if your getting the hd audio drivers. have you got internet explorer 6 installed if so..just disable the win genuine advantage active x in addons..than you can install sp1 or sp1a,, if you have ie 7 you cant disable win genuine advantage as ie 7 dont have it now in the addons.

Does no one read the posts posted here?

You need to install the drivers separately... Microsoft are not liable for Realtek and their drivers!

i think the poster knows that microsoft dont supply the audio drivers..but he needs sp1 installed.minimun .to install the realtek hd drivers..if sp1 is not installed.. realtek drivers will not install. for the life of me..i cant see how he is using the net and apps without sp1 or sp2 in his system. with out the service packs win xp is a nightmare.

In all my years freeing people's computers from malware the usual answer is what Generator said. The most likely outcome is a cracked operating system.

Without Service Pack 2 and approx 70 further critical updates, your machine will be regularly infected with malware.

NEVER install SP2 on a suspect infected machine (although I appreciate you can't do this at the moment anyway). SP2 won't install properly on a compromised machine and the user will be left in a worse state.

My advice? Run the validation tool from Microsoft first and foremost .....

Download MGADiag.exe to your desktop from here …..

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Double-click MGADiag.exe and click Continue in the bottom right of the window to run the tool. Click the [Copy] button to copy the info to your clipboard. Then come back here and paste the info in your next reply.

If your Operating System isn't genuine your course of action is simple. You'll have to bite the bullet and buy yourself a legit copy of XP. You can pick them up from online stores for as little as £50-60 these days.
