Why not try Media Player Classic? It's an excellent program and can be downloaded from many sites. It;s also free.

Does it report an error number at all? Is it asking you to upgrade?

Can you watch other video on the internet for example YouTube clips?

You uninstalled it and installed earlier versions which still don't work?

Can you show a link which won't play?

few updates that will maybe help you to help me.

the only files that i cant see is windows media files(wmv, wma, asf, asx). all other files(mpg,mpeg,avi,mp3) work.
i have tried to install the media player codec pack for version 7.1 and above(i have xp home and media player 11) and during the installation there was an error that said "this version of windows media technologies does not match this version of windows" and it stoped the installastion.
so i installed the codec pack for version 6.4, and everything was o.k, but, everytime i install it i can see 1 movie and when i try another one i see the same old problem, and this thing happens to me everytime, i see one video and thats it.

please help me.

This appears to be a fix for a similar issue with Media Player 10.

See if it helps at all.
