winmm wdm audio compatibility driver

hi i am looking some advice,,,,, I have a packard bell easynote h5315 i got it from a friend and it was full of viruses and games they had downloaded, the system ran realy slow so i decided to reload xp on the system. The problem was i didnt have an actual xp disc and thought using the recovery disc for my q-tech desktop would be ok (as i didnt have the recovery disk for the easynote) to a certain extent this did work, the systen was wiped and xp was installed and all seemed well then i discovered i had no sound as it was logging the sound card as the 1 in my desktop so i downloaded the drivers for the sound card but it now says the winmm wdm audio compatibility driver is not installed i have looked for this driver on the web without success can anyone tell me where i can download this driver

thanks shroom

Shroom,

You have to be very careful with Packard Bell Pcs. If you use a recovery disk that is not really needed for this laptop, you need to go through a thing called a Tattoo.

It's basically a recovery, but you tell your laptop / pc what to install during the recovery (But you need a PB Recovery disk to do so)

But if you just want a standard Windows XP with no features of Packard Bell, then you're cool with that.

Go to http://www.packardbell.com

Click on "Support" and enter your Serial Number (Found under the laptop or where the battery is located)

This should then show you, your downloads available for your laptop.
