Powerpoint 2003 video Problem

Hi,
I have a problem with powerpoint 2003 when inserting a video file. About halfway through playing the video in slide show mode, the sound stops although video is still playing. The movie plays perfectly fine in windows media player though. It is an .avi file that I am inserting, any help would be gratefully appreciated!
