Program does not start

Hi everybody,

I have a fortran IDE installed on my laptop. Until a few days ago it used to work all right, however, today clicking on its icon on the desktop does not start the program, though, it adds a process in the task manager. Going to the folder where the actual program is and clicking on its icon too does not start the program though a process is again added in the task manager. Using Rus As and running as the current user does start the program if 'protect my computer ' is checked. However, in this case, program seem not to be able to access any of the files and is effectively useless. However, if 'protect my computer' is not checked, the program does not start though a process can be seen in the task manager. Would be grateful for any and all comments/suggestions/solutions.

There is a typo in the post. Read 'Rus as' as 'Run as'

Though it's not specifically about the program you mention, I have had similar issues when running some programs for a second time during one session (exiting them and trying to run them again a bit later), when the task appears in Task Manager, but does not actually open.

Generally it's ACDSee and Windows Explorer which have this problem (after exiting via the program's close icon or exit menu option).

Usually, ending the process or process tree and restarting the program again sorts it out (it occassionally appears twice in Task Manager Processes too).

normally, its quite easy to get around this. You should go to the processes tabs, in the ctrl+alt+delete menu. there should be something with the abbreviated name of the program (e.x. q4.exe, firefox.exe) ending the process rather than ending the task will not only end it with no lag, but i've found that it keeps what you were talking about from happening.
