external hard drive utility

Would like to run programs from external usb 2.0 hard drive connected to any computer. Drive formated with fat32 and I would like to run word or excel from the external drive without reinstalling software on each computer. Does anyone know of utility that will let me do this.

My OS is Win2K and my external USB HD is an Acom. When I plug the drive into the USB port, the system sees it as the next drive. If your drive isn't recognized when you plug it in, check with the manufacturer to see if there's a driver available. You may need to carry it on a floppy or look into upgrading your OS.

When you install MS Office the installation writes to the system registry, to run office on 2 computers you need to install on both computers.

You can try to install to your external disk on both computers to see if that will work.
