Backup copy not working.

I made a backup copy a few years ago and the original CD has been damaged.
I installed the software on my new computer using the backup but when I run the program it asks for the original CD?? I saved the key code that was on the original
and have the serial#, but can’t use it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

What exactly is happenning when you try to install from the backup copy (ie how far does it get)?

You should have tested the backup copy when it was first made, because it sounds like it's not an exact copy of the original. The only way to make an exact copy of a bootable cd is to use the "cd copy" option in Nero or Easy Media Creator. Windows cannot do this on it's own.

Thanks for the quick reply

It installs fine, it’s just when I run the program a dialog box pops up saying to insert the original CD with the options of “retry or cancel” if I select cancel the program will open but nothing functions. I can’t even get to the part to enter the serial #.

I’ve contacted the company but they say I need to purchase a new CD from them at full price!

Conclusion!!!

You were quoted that you would need to purchase a "replacement cd". That price is at a significantly lower price and was not published to you.

That was before we found out that your "backup" cd is a pirated cd from a different customer who purchased it and is registered in his name.

At this point in time I would recommend that you don't worry about the price of a cd and start worrying about the price of a good attorney. I hope you get banned from this site as well as every other site your think it is a good idea to declare yourself a thief.

This is exactly why I will never buy software made by 2020 again.
You are right, I didn’t directly purchase the software my cousin did, he also paid for two seats one of which is mine! as i told you before.
So take Your lame threat and stick it you know where!!!
Besides the fact that your claim wouldn’t see the light of day in a court room, you idiot.
