Question Transparent Color in Copied images

Whenever I've copied images off the internet which are part transparent the transparency always became white, which was fine. Recently I set one as a background on Firefox, and it came up with that background selector which I changed to black to see what it would look like, assuming if I could change it I could change it back. But I couldn't and now transparency defaults to black rendering some of the diagrams etc I get unreadable... is there any way to change it back to white? I scoured the net and couldn't find anything.
