Fatal failure: Acronis&WinValidations

Chronogicall order of events. 550 dollars later.

With a 1999 computer, two harddisks installed. hardisk zero with the
original windows (genuine legal) xp 2002 version installed.
and a removable harddisk one that I always leave in.
In May I started having problems like a virus was on computer.
Worked slow, hanged (not responding) messages often.
To resolve I sought to recover the acronis image that was stored on
harddisk one, back onto harddisk zero.
The prompts were confusing because I could not tell if it was asking with
each window if it was pulling data from backup or prompting for me to
authorize installing retrieved data to the disk zero.
Something when catostrophically wrong.
I had compter mechanic repair, reinstall windows with their
trial version.

When I got home, I recieved "must validate" message, so I went to Winmicro site which then tried to prod me to purchase what I
already own a valid/legal copy of. There were not any places on site to
just let me authorize /validate my windows.
So I sought to open the trial version and validate with "MY" key,
it said it was not valid.
Viewing this as wrong product key for being a match with the trial version,
I exited the browser and inserted "MY" windows disk, it asked for
product key, I entered it.
System shut down for a reboot, then prompted me to continue the process.on coming back on.
let us remember, computer tech already had trial version on computer

I continued and had catostrophic failure.
On returning to the computer tech with bumbled machine, he informed me
that disk one had been over written with windows, and disk zero also had
windows installed. but I could not get pass the original screen showing that the system was 'begining to boot.
The blue windows intro screen never showed, just the dos info that flashes by.
The bottom line is that in trying to use acronis, it is not explaing that it is pulling or inserting and which disk or to which drive it is inserting the data to.
IN attempting to install windows xp (valid copy) I can not get my key to
be accepted, and in using my disk I only end up overwriting acronis back up photo image of harddisk or overwritting the windows xp trial version.

How can I learn to use acronis properly (these prompts are confusing)

How can I validate windows?, the microsoft site shows nothng, google search shows how to validate "pirated version"; and
validation key using the disk has ended up in overwrite and catastrophic
failure of computer.

It would also be nice to learn how to reformat a drive by myself so I can
learn through trial and error how to get through other programming problems.
My experience with computers is from the old DOS days, maybe this dog is
too old to learn new tricks, but I am willing.

Thank you so very much for helping me in any manner.
Bless.

So you are saying a computer Tech reinstalled windows with a trial version?
It will never work as it is a trail version only. The only option I can see is to contact MS and see what they have to say. http://support.microsoft.com/common/...1=509&rdpath=1

I would say your image may be gone if you have XP installed on both drives.
