Desktop Problem..

Dear friends,

I have some problem in desktop, i cant put my own photos to desktop..
i go to properties--desktop...browse..then i selcted my photos..then clik <open> ..but it wont come to the background list..in this list, there, alraedy have some photos(old one),,that i can change and can make as desktop background..but some new photos i cant add..!!why?? how can i solve this problem??

im using windows XP.
