Windows installer

I have a major problem with windows installer. It keeps trying to run a program that I have removed as this was a suggestion made to clear the problem, however it keeps on running and upsets my log in to sites such as my Internet banking and email writing. Can anyone help? I am not a whizz kid 71 and learning!!!
