Doing a complete re install

Ok so i have a 620gb HD i used it with windows before, but my friend installed it. so now i put the Cd in boot from cd formatted thee partition and redid everything and when i go to re-install it says data error (cyclic redundancy error) so i had my friend re put his windows that he had onto another CD completely re-downloaded and everything and it happened all over again. so im wondering if i should just delete the partition altogether and just make another one
