Adobe Acrobat keeps configuring

I had acrobat 7 professional and recently installed acrobat 8 full version, everytime I open vista (home basic) the windows installer kept popping up and wanted to configure acrobat 8. This happened a lot, even when I click to open internet explorer, an internet link, when i select recycle bin to empty or even when I hit the delete key. It is so frustrating. I used to just cancel all the time but then let it run its course in configuring but it keeps happening. So I uninstalled the Acrobat 8 and put the full version 7 I have back on and now its doing the same thing with 7. All my antivirus, ad aware, spybot, windows updates are all up to date and working properly so dont know what else to do. The program is NOT in my startup. Any suggestions?
