Excel 2000 - changing text case

I am trying to change the text in a spreadsheet. It has been typed in capitals and I want it in lower case with capitals where they should be. I have found a function called PROPER but I only seem to be able to change one line at a time if I try selecting a range of cells I get the hash value error message - also it doesn't change the line where its typed but copies it to the cell where the function is. Surely there is some easy way of converting the text of a whole worksheet - you can do this is Word. Please help. Thanks

Thank you for sending that info - using the Microsoft Excel Help only gave me half the info - I couldn't find anywhere - even Microsoft help online - that explained as that did that you needed to insert columns and copy to them. Bit long winded but works ok.

Where did you get that Microsoft Knowledge Base Article from - do you have to be a support member.

Many thanks, once again.

Wink ... it's working with Word...

Hi!

I had this problem previously... I didn't find THE solution, but I was able to go around the problem with copying my spreadsheet, pasting it in Word, CTRL+A, then under Format, Change case (sorry, my Word is in French, but this is under the Format menu, where you can choose all lowecase, all upper...etc.)

it's a pain in the ... but it is not that bad.

then I copy my text again and paste it in Excel. Since I had to do it many times, I personalized my toolbar to add this function [View, toolbar, perso.]

Good luck,

cixi

Oh Yes - another way of doing it. There I was moaning how simple it was to do in word and I didn't think of copying it in to word to change.

Thanks
