AdShield and Computer Reformat

Hello,

I have AdShield on my computer, probably the best and most used freeware/software I've ever downloaded. However, I recently found out that it is no longer freeware, but rather they charge a full $29.99 to download it nowadays. I plan to reformat my computer once I get back to the States in September (I'm currently studying abroad in Germany), but am a bit hesitant because I don't want to lose this program. Like I said, it was perfectly legit that I downloaded it for free, as it was still freeware at the time (almost a year ago), and am wondering if there is anyway I can save it and still have it after I reformat without having to pay to download it again? If not, are there any other freeware programs that work the same way as or better than AdShield? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Andrea;)

If you still have the downloaded 'Installation Files' back them up to CD / Zip / Floppy ready for use when you re-install.

You could always move to a browser that has inbuilt pop up control such as Mozilla or Firebird.

I've never used AdShield but it sounds impressive. I'm currently using AnalogX POW (www.analogx.com) and am happy with it. You have to train it in the beginning - every time an ad pops up tell it to not allow that ad but it easy and a simple program. You only have to do this once for an ad, plus you can use wildcards (*) to improve the performance. I think there is a write-up in PC World and they liked it too.
