Results of ccleaner...what to delete?

[Dell desktop; MS Windows 7 Home; Windows Live Mail Essential 2011; Mozilla Firefox 17.0.1]

Hello, I just scanned my computer with ccleaner and dont know exactly which items to let it delete and which to save. Is there a sort of a guide that I could use. I'd love to delete the whole thing, but of course don't want to cause more problems. It also included my Office 2003, will I remain without this program if I click Yes to delete? Or is it like the programs working in the background that come right back after we uncheck them?

I anticipate my thanks for any ideas. Adela

Hi,

If you haven't changed any of the default settings, it's safe to delete the things CCleaner reports.

It won't delete your Office programs, just your installation files.

Thank you Ant! By "installation" files, do you mean files like Adobe, the antivirus, etc.? Thanks again.

No. During installation, there are often many temporary files created that are no longer needed once the program installs completely, and you have configured it. CCleaner (one of my favorite programs) can help get rid of those unneeded temp files. But the main program files remain in tact.

But that is not really what CCleaner is noted for if you have Office checked too (because you really only install most programs once). Instead, if you have an application checked under the CCleaner Cleaner section's Applications tab, it will delete temporary cache and history files for that program. For example in Word, Word remembers the last several documents you have worked on. That MRU (most recently used) list is purged when you run CCleaner.

Lots. See CCleaner Documentation.
