Msn Messegner Upgrade

My Friend has MSN messeger version 5.0 but she want to upgrade to 6.0 so she can use all the latest features.

Everytime she goes to download it downloads but then doesnt let her log on to MSN.

She then has 2 delete the new downloaded version and use the old version.

Is there a site where she can go to and automatically update her msn 5 to msn 6.

SHe has microsoft windows xp, hom ed, verison 2002 as the operating system.

Thanks for any advice.

Tanny

Are you having the problem now. Are you using Road Runner? This might explain it.

http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-5070463.html?tag=fd_top

"A glitch is preventing a significant number AOL Time Warner's Road Runner customers from using the high-speed Internet service to connect to certain Microsoft Web sites."

Problem has been fixed. The problem was she was behind a firewall and that was the reason she coundl't sign in.

Thanks for all the replies.

I do not know what kind of firewall you have. You will need to grant Msn Messenger permission to access the net both in and out. A good firewall should ask you the first time a new program wants to access the internet.

MSN problems

Actually I called brighthouse (Time Warner) this morning and they told me that Microsofts servers were down and there were routing problems from many Ip's to any Microsoft entity (MSN etc)...

lo and behold 1 hour later and everything is back on.... I can use messenger nad read hotmail...I am glad I did not disable my firewall(zone alarm).
