Internet Explorer 6 issue

Ok, basically, I have Internet Explorer 6 w/ SP1. Everything in the browser works without a problem. I noticed that after I ran Registry Mechanic I was no longer able to launch internet explorer via the run-line command. Start - Run: iexplore

It's not a major crisis, just kinda concerns me.

I've tried restoring the backups I created beforehand to no avail. Also tried to re-install internet explorer.

So all I really want to know is if there an entry somewhere in the registry that I could modify in order to get internet explorer to launch via the Run line. No big deal, any suggestions?

If anyone can figure it out, the gurus here can.

I have re-imaged my laptop so I could perform one update at a time just to see what causes that but so far I have been unable to re-create your problem :-( (now I have all the updates and patches with SP1 on it) ,, do you get any kind of error message when you run iexplore from RUN line ? Did you try it from command prompt ? any issue there ?

cheers

Snowmonkey, you're the greatest, as always, I've tried most everything on my own, and I also noticed that I was having similar issues as this post:

http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com...?threadid=7348

So I performed the steps suggested on microsoft's website to re-register all of the dlls, and that cleared up that issue, still the issue remained of course with the Run command iexplore.

I have also tried running it from a command prompt.

The only error I get from running from the command prompt is:

"Windows cannot find 'iexplore'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file. . ."

Basically the normal error when you type an improper command from the Run line. I even went as far as adding a Path= reference to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer" to no avail. Basically I'm down to some sort of registry reference that has the same sort of pointer references such as Path= (thinking it may be something in the 32-bit enviroment as apposed to the Path= reference).

As always, thanks for the advice.

what is you set the path manually (temporary solution),, just to see if path setting is the acutual issue:
on prompt type: "set path=C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer" ,, the try to launch IE from there,, let us know.

cheers

Apologize it took so long for the reply, was at work at the time. Anyways, I got home and tried the things posted above, I am now able to get iexplore to work from the command prompt, but still not from the Run line. I believe I excluded from using "set" before Path= when setting that value from my earlier post. Damn you 32-bit enviroment, you've made me soft!!! Either way. Still haven't been able to come up with a solution of my own.
