Extract rar files over 4 gig

how do i extract rar files that are over 4 gigabytes?

first of all . I hope you have tones of memory for that ,, you need to have Winrar installed on your computer first, do you have it ? http://www.topshareware.com/WinRAR-download-102.htm

then you just right click on the file and click on extract. that's it

it doesnt work, it says only ntfs can recognize files over 4 gig

Which Operating System are you using?

You need Windows 2000 or WinXP to use NTFS.

(My apologies if Linux and Mac are also capable)

i have win2k; is it possible to extract without converting the whole harddrive to ntfs?

Nope.

You could try and get hold of an old drive say 10 GB, format that NTFS and try again.

To be honest NTFS is a much more stable File System than FAT 16 or FAT 32 and Win 2K is designed to run on NTFS.

i was installed snaglt.exe,9mb,install about 4 mins,so i cancelled

then i found xxxxxx.tmp file, 2000mb,so terror !
