office 2000 on xe... wont accept?

office 2000 on xe... wont accept?

hello
had office 2000 on our 98se computer and have gone over to XE, but when loaded onto XE system it would not accept the liscence.

any thoughts appreciated

havnt got it on screen at the moment... but it just said it was not a valid liscence number... but we are sure it is and was the one we used to set it up on our 98 se system when it use to be.

You can get that error message when you have typed just one of the characters incorrectly.

Is it a pirate version of Office?

no it is a legit version... only we are still looking for original cd... at the moment we used our back up cd and the liscence number is written on cd, but was double checked when written and is clear to read.

someone mentioned for it to work on XE it needs a DIFFERENT code... that would mean we'd have to get an XE version??? surely not!!! (
