Address bar - additional question

(Thank you for the prompt reply to my earlier question. I am somewhat computer illiterate, so please forgive me if I have to be spoon-fed on what might be obvious to those more knowledgable).

I also have the same problem with other "boxes" besides Internet Explorer. For example: when I click on the search box in google.com, all the previous topics searched for are listed. How can these be deleted & how can this be prevented in the future? There are numerous other screens in which the same type of thing occurs.

That is because of AutoComplete

Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete under Personal Information. Un-tick which you don't want.
